That is the exact same door I was looking at, but I never noticed there were 2 insulation values available

You right the cost of adding storage isn't a lot and $/daft is really cheap. I'm 900sqft below, going to a gamrel that is 700sqft upstairs adds $3-$4k in material, without stair, doors or windows which is about 1/4 The cost for the 1st floor space. With my hip roof I think I only get about 200-300 sqft for a cost of about $2000-2500, still not bad per sqft but it is money and pull-doen stairs are the only practical option to access it.....and I was just not sure how much I'd use it thinking I'm unlikely to drag anything big or heavy up the pull-doen. I don't know.....

I picked up the drawings friday afternoon. The lumber yard that draw them is getting me a material quote.

The one big think on them I didn't know about and didnt shiw up on the online tool i used is the need for a continuous beam side to side in front that needs to be strapped and a rediculous amount of nails used. The other one was there is a min spacing between doors of 16". If there is no solid well section at least 4 feet then you need to good to a calculation and tables to determine what's needed to keep it from racking.

So time to apply for the permit!

The guy who's going to move my orpoane tank is coming tonight to look at the job and also quote digging for the foundation. I have 1 more builder coming too, I was told I need to talk to him, but I just don't else how this stays in budget if I hire people.......

I got the material quote yesterday....$10100 without the 3 garage doors or any foundation stuff

It's $1000 to move the propane tank itself plus probably another few hundred for the lines.

.....money goes fast

Make sure you have your seat belt fastened when you open the cost estimate for the concrete work.

I had one guy tell me about $16k to dig, concrete, fill.....which is nearly the entire project budget

......so I'm pretty much resigned to the idea that it's time for me to learn how to do concrete. I did the digging, fikking, footers and block work on my patio which is much larger than the garage so I know i can do that work, but I've never poured a slab. My bother is a mason though and I'm hoping he can talk me threw it.

Lana still thinks we'll be hiring the whole thing built and expects me to get multiple quotes so I have to donut but there is no money for labor in the budget she gave me, I'm not even sure it will cover all the material.

An update.

Last weekend I rented a backhoe and dug for the footers.....which took longer than I'd hoped as it finished under the lights.

I also found some pipes for my for system I forgot were there :( ....and had to repair the next day....in the rain and mud.

I spent my evenings sure g the week cleaning up the backhoe work, building cheap forms, and settings rebar. Passed inspection Thursday, poured the footer friday afternoon with my wife and 2 or her friends helping...i called the husbands but the wives showed up. It came out nice though.

This past weekend I started the block. Saturday I set the 4 corners right I think. Sunday I got 2 walls done.....this morning I have pain pretty much everywhere. Hopefully I can finish the other 2 walls this week and be ready to back fill this weekend.
