It's starting to look like a garage.

The roof is mostly framed. They got started late when the driver was a no show. For those not familiar with the Amish, they can't drive so they hire drivers amd had to scramble for a replacement at 6am...rhey got here at 9, the crane and trusses at 7 :(

But they are on, just A little left to do before the sheeting goes on and the roof should be done this week.

Is this Amish crew any different from regular contractors other than they don't drive?

Or are they just regular contractors who happen to be Amish.

They worried about a 1/16"error, they didn't waste my materials even when it took more of their time, and they were a lot cheaper. Around here most masonry, framing, roofing crews are Amish.

The weather hasn't exactly cooperated this week....it snowed 3 times and heavy wind 1 day so we're at maybe 2/3 sheeted instead of finished. Next week is 40s all week though and they just rented a lift to speed things along....a couple more days and there should be a roof.

It think it's looking pretty good though and matches the house so Lana's happy so far. The color of the shingles and stucco still need to be right, but so far so good.

Forgot. I didn't plan storage above much to the dismay of many, but the way the trusses came out there is a center area 9ft wide and 9ft tall by 18 ft long and l have a bunch of 2x6x10ft left over that I could nail to the 2x4 trusses to get a decently solid floor up there.....still not sure what I'd put up there exactly.....we'll see.

Roof is going slower than we thought....but it's going.

It's pretty warm here this week, warm enough that the neighbors just had their driveway topped.....hmmmmm......the driveway guy will be here Thursday to connect my garage to the rest of the driveway. It will just be the rough coat that will need to be topped in the spring but it will be functional and we won't be driving I mud anymore

WOW! It is gorgeous. Love the integration with the house. Absolutely beautiful.

Re what to put in attic space: you put stuff up there. All kinds of stuff. Looks like you have a nice unplanned area. Put in tongue-and-groove subfloor and a pull-down ladder.

Yes, yes, yes.

I have a 30'X40' or made even a littler larger garage. No attic. Running out of space to put things
Almost all wall space is covered with tables or shelves.
