I almost finished the wall yesterday.....2 more hours maybe then on to the other side which is not as long, but probably more work because it gets the counter top. I'm really fighting the clock, summer is officially here so this needs to be done.lana said something about a party in July, so I guess I have a month....its going to be tight.

The 1st wall is done and i started digging on the 2nd......hopefully we done get all the rain they were calling for so I can get the footer in this weekend. I need to get this patio knocked out so I can get back to the garage. |

I count a triple-nested recursion (Ferrari project begat the Garage Project, which begat the Patio project). All with subroutines (engine management software, testing and simulation suites...) Then there's the overall program of being a functioning husband, father, engineer... Dude, you make us all look like slackers! |

After I got done digging, mostly with a pick, it was too late to pour on Saturday yo know I'd beat the rain. In the morning the rain was done and just a little dirt to clean out...15 minutes. Nice. Got the rebar in, started pouring and at 4 bags mixed a small collapse...damn. Dug it out and noticed a pretty big crack in the dirt......well.....fingers crossed. We finished the pour and went in for lunch. When I came out i found the crack let go....gingers crossed again that the concrete was stiff enough to not really be bothered. Then I moved on to core filling some of wall 1...and when I went in Lana told me she was thinking maybe we don't want the sitting wall and maybe we should remove the top 2 course on block.....what a day.

Mehl wrote: Happy birthday Marc Your Ferrari, garage, patio story is amazing. Thank you. Keeps me working on my loft construction site since 54 months Thanks. I hope the lot turns out to be everything you're hoping for......54 months is a long time! I changed my mind a little over the weekend. I build the 1st side to be a sitting wall but it just didn't look right so I build the 2nd side patio height ...and we settled ( I think) on patio height, so I had to remove 2 courses from wall 1. While I was removing stuff I took the top off the old wall so it won't interfere with getting the heigh of the pavers set then spent Sunday, between rain showers, cleaning up rubble. I think I'm going to move the steps out 1 step...that will still let the gate open and should look better....but means more digging. I'm going to need to make changes to the counter top too. I removed the grill and the end of the counter without damaging anything and I have 1 extra 42x72 slab of stone, trying to figure out how best to use it.....we always seemed not to have enough counter space so now is the time to add more.
