Back from the beach and raining....so today I'm doing actual garage work! Insulation along the front header. The plan is get the front insulated and drywalled...so I can install the doors....if it keeps raining.

I got a late start but the front wall is nearly done. Hopefully tonight I'll finish up that and the front part of the ceiling....I need to drywall about the first 8' of ceiling so I know the door track supports end up on finished ceiling and won't need to be moved later.

I'd forgotten how slow insulation goes....about 2/3 of what I thought was a 2 hour job got done in 4 hours....1 more night on insulation i guess

The first of the drywall is up...I'd forgotten know long this takes too. The harborfrieght lift is a HUGE help, it makes the job so much easier. I also buy a rotary cutter to cut out the light and outlet holes, that speeds things up a bit too. The plan is 2 rows (8') on the ceiling then the front wall then the doors go on.

Rain stopped so I'm back on the patio. I got the countertops cut and installed and I think it looks pretty good. I want sure about the floating counter but I like it I think, it leaves the view to the pool open which i like. I thought I was ready for pavers but lana decided she wanted a concrete floor in the wood box so I poured that tonight, pavers tomorrow.

I did get rolling on the pavers as planned....but didn't know the plan included resetting the whole patio I got about 1/3 of the way thought the existing part....this will take a while. As long as I had to reset I'm mixing in the new stone with the old so there won't be any transition moving into the new part, but it's a lot of unplanned work.

''unplanned work'' The story of your life! You do remember you have a blue thing under that tarp right? |

Montreal328 wrote: ''unplanned work'' The story of your life! You do remember you have a blue thing under that tarp right? That does seem to be the case.....clearly I'm not a good planner. I'm just dying to get the engine out and turn down.....but I'll be at least another month outside and at least a month ( so probably 2-3) finishing the inside of the garage before I can move the car in. Fall. Lana got to learn how to use the engine crane while helping set the countertops in place so I told her she's now qualified to help pull the engine...to which she replied if there is a dumpster with the engines name on it involved then I can count her in! |
