Hi,
Following the build for a few years now, time you return to the engine :-). Best way is to run CAT cable if in any way possible, happy to help with the setup if needed. As a previous poster suggested, you should be able to plug the cable into your router and then have an extender at the other end. Most of these will work with a straight or crossed cable and autodetect signals.
I have good experiences with Powerline by Devolo (not sure if you can get it in the states, but there are only two viable chipsets anyway, which are used by all manufacturers), used to run that over three floors through mains distribution in our house at 500 Mbit. Only drawback is turning all your power cables into antennas, if you are concerned about electro smog this is not for you.

...and I know its time to get back to the car.....hopefully the car will be in the new shop for New Year's Day!

It sounds like another vote for the powerline option since it just means ordering it and plugging it in vs spending time runner wires which is probably a full day adventure....which in my world seems to mean 3 full days.

It probably doesn't look different in the pics nut the 1st floor is sanded and ready to paint. Normally I would do a 4th coat of mud before deciding if a 5th is needed because there's no way Lana will approve the paint after 3....but last last as I was getting ready to start it occurred to that this is my workshop not Lana's kitchen and I don't need Lanacto approve the paint anywhere except the powered room . . .so I sanded it and tonight I'll start putting on paint. Now for all my talk there's still a good chance I'll want to touch up a few place once I put on paint and the defects are obvious but we're talking 30-60 minutes of touch up work vs 6-8 hours for a full coat then I'd still endup with a little touch up....but there will be paint on the ceiling tonight and it will be done enough to be able to move at least some stuff in this weekend.

I don't know how far your garage is from your attached house garage but I would think if you put a router in your attached garage up high in a corner near your detached garage and then if needed a range extender in the detached garage near the house you would get decent signal? Especially if you get the high gain antennas.

How far is the house from the detached garage? If the Fios box is in the attached garage it would be easy to set up a router by just running a piece of cat5 to the router from the Fios box.

Anyone that knows how to bridge a router would be able to help you?

Worked a little later than usual and got 2 coats on the ceiling, started on the walls and should finish tonight.

Fios box is in the basement.

My wifi problem seems to be related mostly to the metal lathe in my house and garage stucco.. ...the signal just doesn't go through the walls of either structure very well. I get a small signal upstairs where it's just coming through the roof, but almost nothing on the first floor. Outside I can see a couple neighbors signal who have vinyl siding, but step into my garage of house and they are gone.

I'm going to try a powerline setup first since it's near zero install time/effort. If that doesn't work I'll return it and run a wire out.....but for the moment the focus is paint the 1st floor then drywall the 2nd.

Last night was school band concert so not a work night...but Lana apparently wants me out of the basement enough that I got home to find the walks primed.

Finished the 1st floor paint Friday, Saturday was start the drywall upstairs.

More drywall. The secret room is now secret. The plugs are installed and live......my huge pile of drywall is done to 4 sheets. I bought 2 $20 5k btu electric heaters to help keep it not freezing.
