And so do we!I know...and lana is building a new list too Quote: Are you putting in any way to circulate the air between top and bottom floors? Yeah, the stairs The real plan is a 3 zone mini-split system with air handlers in the main shop, powder room, upstairs.....on the list. Right now its warm when the downstairs is warm, come summer I suspect it will be horrible until the mini-split system is installed but a fan will hopefully make it tolerable until then. |

I worked late Friday and finished the drywall upstairs AND put on the 1st coat of Mud. More seems than normal as I used up as many drops as possible. Saturday was mostly family day, but with a little time to install outlets and covers downstairs and start picking up. This morning will be a first....I'll use the shop to do some car work! I need to replace brake pads on Lana's car and wheel sensors on mine. Then the cleanup and mudding will continue. |

Are you using the paper or the mesh tape on the seams? I used to use the mesh but then had a friend in the business that showed me how to properly use the paper and now that's all I use. |

Funny...my grandfather taught me with paper, then I discovery mesh There was a time when I'd go back and forth....and I like that paper sands.......but I use mesh pretty much exclusively these days. It costs more but pretty much never goes wrong no matter how sloppy or not dry the gaps are under it. |

The paper gave me fits until my buddy that does it for a living showed me how to use it properly. Before it always seemed to bubble up or peel. Now that I know the tricks I use it all the time and never have a problem. |

I only have problems with paper when I'm doing something stupid....which is more often than it should be. I think if I used the water mix hardening stuff as a base and let it at least mostly dry as you suggested I'd have no problems. With mess I can do most anything and it works out ok....sometimes takes a long while to finally dry, especially if I paint while it's still wet......as I did when I painted the 1st floor. .. .but it came out fine |

I left upstairs unfinished and shifted gears to the floor. I made a separate threat thinking other might want to chime in on floor options and results: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=318&p=4408#p4408 I have it nearly empty now. The plan is get the prep finished this week and sealer on Saturday or Sunday at the latest. I bought an oil based sealer because I have never had good luck with water based anything... ..
