I got going on the intake today. John wanted a 3" extension on the runners so I cut 12 spacers, bored them to match the runner ID then added a big weld prep. These are ready to go I think.

Next up is through the manifold on the mill and straighten up the bandsaw cut.

I got the manifold setup but the light on my readout is dead making the numbers very hard to read so I'm going to see if I can replace it......I suspect however that as buried inside as it was its not a part I can just buy.

I milled the bandsaw cuts straight tonight....it was under 1/4" out totalwhich isn't too bad for a pair or bandsaw cuts. Now I need to figure out how to hold everything straight for welding and hopefully get it finished this weekend.

I guess it would be too easy to weld flanges on the manifold and bolt up aftermarket throttles :P

While this may look like one of my ideas I'm just the welder. This is John's project and design so clearly I'm not the only one with bad ideas

Seriously though, motorcyle TBs are just SOOOO cheap and easy to get it's really hard to not want to use them if possible.

Woohoo, I've been out in the Sahara for about two weeks and completely missed these updates! Looks like things are really moving Mark, thanks!

Will, the idea is that I'm going to use 'Busa TB's for a "proof of concept" and engine dyno breakin, and they'll be spigoted in with hose clamps on these extensions that Mark is welding up. Assuming the engine dyno goes OK, I'll then mock it all up in the engine bay, get the measurements trimmed down a bit, lop the excess lengths off the extensions, weld flanges on and mount up some Jenveys.

I already had quite a collection of 'Busa TB's here, so the cost for my proof of concept setup was next to nothing, vs having to buy 12 Jenvey's for about $2500, and not knowing how well they'd work out......
