Easiest way to locate the engine was from underneath as all the suspension components and crossmember were in for powdercoating

Looking good!

I was looking at a used X3 for Lana Friday and now understand what you meant by no way the engine comes out the top.....on that think at least 1/3 of the engine is under the cowl.

Just a few more.

Had to search for the aircon system for the car as it was originally discarded when they swapped the engine to the M88.

Managed to get all the components secondhand which was a relief.

In the recent past prices have gone through the roof on anything decent e30.

That looks like an original condenser... Why not the E36 condenser that works better with R134?

Thanks for the suggestion.....I was not aware that it would be a good fit.
Have you seen it done before? If so could you point me in the right direction?

R134 info and parts lists:

I have *NOT* done this to my '87 325iX yet, so I can't comment on the completeness, correctness or potential gotchas of whatever you find there.

Stripped and re wrapped the loom with OE cloth tape and installed the missing cruise control driver and left hand side lights etc.

The following pic is for amazement purposes.
Image

On the left we have the gear lever which is to be found on the e34 manual cars
In the center we have the gear lever support which is to be found on the e30 325 manual cars
On the right we have the gear selector rod which is to be found on the E23 manual cars.

Also worth mentioning that the price for these 3 components here is South Africa is double that which one would pay in the US.
BMW surely rips a new one into us whenever we buy parts.
