I have no idea what I'm doing

.

Why am I not believing that

Having R&R'd the torque converter in a 2002 Audi A6, I can tell you no one knows what they're doing with any VAG product, least of all VAG themselves.

Is it FSi or Diesel? Or just a plain old PFI 1.8T?

The ABA 2.0 block and rods + a diesel crank and custom pistons will displace 2.1 liters ;)

Mark, I don't want to burst your bubble, but there's no way a V12 is gonna fit in there....... :)

VW doesn't even make a V12...its a W12 and I believe it would fit.......but we will never know because this is a fix and dump mission so I can get back to a proper project

And here I thought you might have been eyeing this as another potential victim for a Ferrari (or BMW) V12 engine swap.

Its the 2.0 TFSi...which I just learned means its direct injected...I wondered why the heck I found a fuel pump on the camshaft whe I started pulling it apart.

To restate, the goal of this project is a running engine to allow me to sell it...no so stroker cranks! and if I find dings in the pistons fromt he valves I will not be looking at them as clearance for bigger cams

I finally got the head off today. The intake valve look just awful but everything else seems ok....now I just need the parts I ordered last week to arrive.

Yeah, the early FSi's and TFSi's (and probably newer ones as well) build truly impressive carbon deposits on the intake valve.

Sorry

The pistons have marks..but they seem to be mostly just knocked off carbon so I'm going to say they're fine

The intakes...well....6 of the 8 and very clearly bent. In the pics the cams are out so and one side of the valve is touching the seat so really bent. I realized yesterday I ordered the valves from CA ground ship so I may have to jump back on the ferrari for a couple days until the parts get here.

I'm a little sad because the valves came today ...but at least the VW will be closer to running and off the list I guess.
