They sure come off easier than they go back on :)

Some pics

There's a lot to remove mostly be of stuff like the oil filter/alternator mount/AC compressor mount/belt tensioner bracket with a timing cover bolt dead center under the belt tesioner so the whole thing needs to come off for 1 unrelated bolt.

I'm down to just the exhaust manifold now though so it's getting close.

It had a mouse in the airbox at some point :(

Kind of interesting tuning stuff.

On the intake cam 2 cylinders have their 2 lodes off-set,while the other 2 cylinders have matched lobes.

Also the manifolds and port have a divider...I need to look to see if there's a valve in the manifold

Does the inlet manifold have a "trap" door in it?

Mark, I don't want to burst your bubble, but there's no way a V12 is gonna fit in there....... :)

VW doesn't even make a V12...its a W12 and I believe it would fit.......but we will never know because this is a fix and dump mission so I can get back to a proper project

VW head bolts need a specail wrench that I don't have and I'm no longer sure the head comes off with the enginge in the car???? I'm a little stuck on the exhaust manifold at the moment.

I took a look. There is a flapper in each port to direct the air to the top of the intake port. Intersting design.
