I've been toying with doing it the other way round , putting a 360 motor on top a 308 box !! Collected most of the parts , but I can't say I have got very far !! The 360 dry sump pump needs to be moved ( which is the biggest challenge ) Mark came up with a few ideas ??
Yours is an interesting project , are you putting it in a north south 308 install ? Do you have a 360 pan ? I'm sure you could adapt a 360 pump to go in the sump like the 308 dry sump ( just using the scavenge side ) possibly making the plumbing a bit easier .
I'd go with a spacer plate on the 360 engine to 308 gearbox. The skirt is shorter on the 360 so that helps, though it's wider where the pump assy is and that may have clearance issues, haven't really looked at it from that perspective.
Stuffing the 360 drysump into a 308 block would be a real PITA. easier to mount an external scavenge pump and move on. The owner is putting it into a longitudinal build, stretched 308 frame by 4" for this. Not involved on the install or setup of the chassis.
