once the top hammered out that isn't anything holding the bottom right? Its pretty free to spin and join its brother in a better place.

The is only about .050" piston to head....a .125" or more valve head just isn't going to fit in the space without a fight....a fight the bearing and rod clearly lost.

I guess the good news is I now understand the light scoring n the cylinders....there are bits of bearing on the piston skirts. I'll sand the shirts, hone the cylinders and it will be a little loose but acceptable I expect.....I can't even imagine what lanal would say if I try to order 12 more pistons.

Found a little more bearing at the bottom of the sump it looks like. It don't see anything on the pickups so probably not much if any damage to the oil pump(s) but I'll inspect that pretty well too.

I lied about the scenes being clean...closer inspection found a couple little bits on them. My eyes are not what they once were....I need to be certain I'm just the right distance from what I really want to see, then I see the little bits stuck on the sceen.

So...the intake port are clean, nothing that looks like oil leaking from the cam galley. Back of the valves also clean.

Then the exhaust ports from the chamber right out the port are a gooey mess...hmmmmm

Could be oil...it gooey and a hydrocarbon (or at least cleans up like one) but if it started as oil or fuel I can't really say.

Well I have my popcorn and big ole soda, I love a good mystery. Ooooh. Maybe the valve seat did it in the chamber with the intake valve, :? but who killed the bearing in the pan?
