A little...

The coolant manifold mount did have m6ch meat for the bolts, 1 was already helicoiled, so I'm adding a bit to them

I done. I made them blind holes since the 1 is so close to the coolant.

Then the warped face on the first just kept nagging at me....it would still seal but best to fix it

Which of course let to also welding up the second. When I do stuff like this I weld the edge first while the part is somewhat cool to let me get a cleaner corner then go back and fill it in

It is clear there are some differences in air cooled vs coolant. For one, on my air cooled heads I am fitting the seats at .007 press fit. .003 would scare me.
I have been so busy here I haven't even worked on my stuff in a month or so. I just landed the lead role at our local theater in a production in March. Looks like one more thing to do before the heads. Why o why do I do these things to myself. Between work and that, I might get my heads done this winter.

I don't mind the welding but HATE the grinding......all covered with sharp little bits, yuck

It's done though. I also bolted them down and made sure I got the flange heights matched so I shouldn't have coolant leaks

Didn't you put the whole assembly on your mill so you could true both flanges in one pass?

I though about it but with the crank studs it's pretty tall and finding decent blocking would be a problem. It I have to pull the studs the 1 at a time and check method becomes a lot faster and easier.
