today its sad news, my sentence has been extended. The insulation and drywall are going tomorrow which should mean I'm almost ready to hand this project over to the designer but yesterday the build sheet suddenly shows a requirement for a heated floor...wait what????.....that is not a small change and I don't see it taking less than 2 months. But its apparently my double my fault, 1st I put pipes in the shop then I brought lana to the basement to go-over details and she realized that even mid-summer it "cold" down there.

When I put the doors in I raised the threshold 1" because I guess in my heart I knew this day would come, I just didn't imagine it coming so soon. I was on to picking out a projector and realizing my plan to hide it neatly on the ceiling in front of a beam was an issue in that it was too close to get the 130" image but I had just found this guy:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/optoma-uhd52alv-4k-uhd-smart-dlp-projector-with-high-dynamic-range-black/6379640.p?skuId=6379640

and if I tuck it all the way back into the I section of the beam will give me 129", its bright enough for my a non-walled theater area, decent colors, and its got a fast enough fps rate to make the kids happy gaming, i could already see myself on the sofa with a drink....or in the race chair at least pretending I have a running race car.......now I see myself grinding the paint off the floor and mixing oh...about 180 bags of concrete.....

You can do that without a concrete floor...
That's becoming a much more common way of doing things and the big question is whether you want it electric or hydraunic.

Here's what Home Depot has: https://www.homedepot.com/b/Flooring-Un ... 5yc1vZapte

and then you lay laminate or hardwood on top of the heating layer.

If you still want to do it with concrete...
I have a diesel 3500 Chevy van and will trade moving 4000# of concrete at a time for head porting at a later date ;)

Have you looked at the price on that stuff? It runs like $5-$10I/sqft and have 1300sqft so 6500-13000! I found some nice panels from roth that are alum coated foam, 3/4 thick for 3/8pex....but they would be 5k plus the pex so 6k probably or a bit more, but it does add some insulation which I would like..but still not that budget friendly when labor is free.

no....grind the paint off the floor with a diamond wheel that will rough it a bit. Lay 4x4 wire mesh sheets, zip tie the pex to that, bonding agent on the floor and in the concrete, over-pour about 1" of soup consistency stuff. $2500. That's the plan I guess. Making it soup ike mean more shrinkage but its just an over-pour so i can do manageable areas at a time with expansion (contraction) joints as its not expected to deliver any structure.

I'm sure there are significantly better prices out there than from Home Desperate

Don't forget to polish and clear coat the copper pipe in the control panel so it maintains the Lana seal of approval.

I don't know, stuff the HD stocks is usually a pretty good price, building materials in particular but special order not so much.

Heated floors are a problem for another day though, for now its drywall. Yesterday the driver pulled up, I pointed to the patio , he said, yeah, we only deliver to the driveway. What? you delivered all concrete and block over there..yeah,we are't supposed to they are getting really strict....ends up in a stand off and me telling him I can't use it on the driveway so take it back and going inside. Lana asked whats going on, walks out and 5 minutes latter its on the patio....she's just way better at getting her way than I am.

But at least now I know I'm not the only one that does things they don't want to do when Lana tells them to.

You can see the space...the screen area is in a 2ft bump- out, at the far end from my glass doors with the light on the screen area blocked by the bump-out and the stairs. Then I have room for beanbags or similar, a sofa, then a platform and a second sofa (or theater chairs eventually), behind that is a 42" tall counter that will have 4-5 stools, then a pool table ( lana is obsessed with that for some reason), and at the side of the counter a self-serve bar....eventually. It should be nice........eventually.

With the ceiling mostly in I'm really loving how my doors look....pre-ceiling I was regretting buying the in stock height instead of special ordering taller, that I couldn't actually afford. But now there is drywall I'm pretty happy with both the result and savings of sticking with the in-stock option.

Lana has a few decisions left open to let me finish both the ceiling and the framing. I really like vodka and lemonade, even more than beer usually....so the bar really needs ice. The plan is a about a 10ft counter we can set food out on and under the counter 24" cabinet, 3 24" glass door coolers (beer, wine, soda), 24" cabinet....very symmetric so it works with my OCD...then I remembered ice! there will be a small sink on the counter, and an ice bucket is easy but where does the ice come from? upstairs?...that's a of of walking when I'm drunk.....maybe a fridge in the storage area (we have an old fridge down there now we use on party days for extra beer, birthday cake, etc, but off most of the time....or in the little hall to the bathroom but them the old fridge need to be replaced since it will be seen.....or reduce the storeroom and add a small pantry like area that hides it and adds a small counter and/or more cabinets , I've already plumbed in a utility sink which would them be in the pantry)? Lana needs to tell me what she wants which then determines the little hall width and I know where to cut the light holes to center them in the hall and make a straight row out into the room (remember my OCD).
