Yep noticed the same thing. The QV and the V12's seem to share that similarity, didn't see that on the 2V V8's.

The 2V ports are WAY too big and no way to get enough lift into them once the flow is up the the port size so they just don't act right....you're always trying to cheat something somewhere. The 308 race cars used 208 heads which can be made to work well.

hogging out and port matching...

Well that should flow a bit better :D

equivalent dia of 45mm, TB starts at 50mm, tapers to oval then splits in head of course. Min cross sectional dia is 28mm in the port just ahead of the valve guide.

Fancy!

28 is exactly where my heads are.

Nice, great minds think alike... I hope :)

Shame there isn't more room to make them bigger, the bore being much bigger could use larger valves, but the head is limited and that's really due to the bore centerline. Ferrari changed that with the F430 and it's very obvious how much bigger the ports and valves got. Really wish I could get them flowed before assy... going to make a couple calls and see if it can be done. In the meantime I digitized the ports and can always run the CFD in virtual world. The beauty there is being able to manipulate atmospheric conditions, as in mimic underhood temps, pressure and humidity. Heck I can even add in fuel and check wall conditions and mixture.

Now remember that to need a 28mm throat I went to a 34mm valve...but I like largish valves vs port size to keep the velocity up which generally helps the low to mid range cylinder filling.
