There's a long story and a short story....here's the short.

I bought a 308GT4 from the wife of a passed away friend of mine, the shell is complete with 71k miles, and the engine is out and apart. 1 of supposedly 7 in ivory, only a couple with boxer trim.

This is my thread start to get some advice as I build the engine.

The car comes with a mountain of documents including a service manual.

if you're looking for engine advice here I'm guessing you badly want to be talked into doing something stupid"?

Seriously, very pretty car and what are you thinking engine wise? Stock? or is there a hp goal or some other features you want to include just because you like them?

I'm going to keep it bone stock. The engine is out and apart, all the machining has been done. I'll double check it has stainless valves.

It MIGHT be an easy reassemble, but I fear something important has been lost. we'll see.

it's a 71k mile car... 3rd owner bought it in the 80's. They drove it everywhere, including all through europe.

I'm not opposed to making it into a "drive anywhere" car with reliable upgrades...

I am doing one of these now for a client. We went 82mm and added compression, H beam rods for reliability. New hoses, brakes, and Ac parts. Fun build.

Stainless valves a must do?

I'm told and there are receipts for the machine work having been done, the bottom end is together. This could be a reassemble job, but I don't know if I'm missing anything...probably one or two important bolts.

Project list... I'm preserving, not restoring as a stock driver. I'm not going to track it, i'm going to enjoy it.

All new rubber inner bushings, repaired/fixed/etc the outers. new sway bar bushings.

I got this VEVOR bushing puller/pusher off of amazon and it's freaking awesome.

ball joints and front bearings seem to be in good condition. rear bearings seem to be in good condition...we'll see...

This thing is really dirt simple.
