The bolt pattern of the 308/328 is unique to itself due to sitting atop it's gearbox.

Interesting.
I know it sits on top of the gearbox, but didn't realize it had a different pattern. There's nothing about the 308's powertrain layout per se that requires it to have the different pattern.

Not sure what drove the bolt pattern on the 308 but it's not even close to any of the other later ones. The internals of the 308/328 gearbox are ZF, I think the 348 and 355 are also ZF but the 360 is Oerlikon Graziano. I'll share with this small group here, the 308/328 gearbox internals are ZF, however ZF sold the rights to those specific gearbox internals to RBT ages ago. Unfortunately that does not help with cost either, RBT parts are just as expensive as Ferrari parts. 360 gearboxes are cheap and plentiful by comparison.

Very cool project Scott.
Is the engine going to be one of those 4.0 liter?

Yep, 4L but with the intake plenum from the 360 as well. I know, why not use the whole 360 lump? well the owner wanted a 4L 4V and started with a 328.

Thanks for the info!

I've seen from photos that the 308-355 appear to use the ZF clutch pack limited slip differential similar to what '70's-'90's BMW's and Porsches use.

Does that means he's building (or you're building him) a 404? LOL!

I assume the body remains the same length but the wheel arches were moved a-la 288 GTO conversion?
