So it turned out I had a bag of the right length studs. When Lana's father was visiting he was bored and I found a bunch of small jobs he could work on and it looks like cam cover studs was one of them. I still needed 4 that were a little longer for where the alignment sleeves go but this was a big help :)

I also appear to have purchased SS acorn nuts. The 400 and I think all the older V12s used these on the cam cover and I think the QV as well so they are the "right type......personally I think the gold zinc look better but I guess I'll start with the acords.

They're not plain...they're gold zinc! :lol:

Here's the true sign of progress.....empty boxes that used to be filled with parts sitting on my shelf waiting to go on the engine that are empty because the parts are finally on the engine!

Acorn nuts which are chromed from a BMW M88 motor. The washer is relatively thick and specially designed to work with the nut.
A very close match to the acorn nuts on the 355 which tarnish over time.

I shall try and post a pic later.

Solid progress thus far.

yes...sorry to keep moving around (every 4 years) but this should be the permanent home now and I'll collect up all my old post in the part 1/2 threads in the coming weeks.
