This weld was on a flange that had to be shortened and welded.

I think Mark meant to write "Bead" and not "Bean"

I'm guessing by "fusing" he means just heating with the torch and allowing the metal to fuse together without adding any filler rod. You can get away without using any filler rod if the fit is really tight.

yes and yes.

Fusing is just re-flowing the material that's already there and works very well on stainless steel....most other metals/alloys tend to crack or simply not flow together when you try it, it works kind of sort of with mild steel too not not as nice as with SS.

It works very well on properly fit header tubes as well and looks very cool.
