Honestly I'd stick with the 348 heads and use the BMW S62 TB's, you'd only need an adapter plate to make them work and new throttle shafts, not a big deal at all. Port the heads a bit and change the cams if you really want too. 5v heads are just a PITA and more expensive to start working over esp the cams and with the 360 you've got the variators to deal with.

Course that's what I just finished doing and it managed to hit the mid 500's with stock 348 headers, custom headers are being fab'd so that we can get the flow to hopefully hit 600. The insane 'sucking' whistle past the TB's at part throttle sounds like a jet spooling up.

I've got a 360 engine stripped down to parts if you need data.

I got a little time and got the valves cut to length. Tomorrow I need to put brakes on Lana's car but should have time to groove and hopefully lap the valves.

I always like data! :D

I need the S62 throttles for my S62 ;)

I don't want to get into a science project quite as radical as Mark's.

Also, the S62 heads are spaced for a 98mm bore center. Isn't the Ferrari bore center smaller than that?

Variators are just single step gizmos, right? Like VTEC on Hondas? One could control those with Megasquirt.

This video shows a QV with a tilt column:

Were Ferrari's steering columns of the day bespoke or provided by ZF or some other Euro supplier?

I don't think its a tilt column, it looks like its simple adjusted higher than normal. The column mounts to slotted brackets, yours should be the same if you look under the dash and that lets you put the wheel where you like it.

Being in Afghanistan hinders...

Isn't the ignition lock in the dash a component of the steering column?

Wait, you're in Afghanistan?

Yes....I forget how that works out exactly, I removed mine when the key got stuck but I know you can move the steering wheel quite a bit. Im remembering the face of the key would sort of stay in the hole as everything pivots. I'll need to look in th service manual. All the frame measurement data is in the service manual too BTW.

Since the beginning of October... through the end of September next year.

I'll check that out when I get back.

Ahhhhh.......I did not know you were in the service. I wish you all the best turning your deployment!

Do the factory 360 headers use bigger tubes than the factory 348 headers?

I may take you up on that, but not sure how much bare measurement data I need.
