Are you looking for a 360 engine complete or most of one? I ask because we have a 360 engine that was damaged due to a real shitty rebuild and has been completely torn down. The cost of rebuilding it to stock form isn't worth it and the parts are of no real use for our projects. As a heads up there is no crank and the rods and pistons are no good. One liner is thrashed and was removed and the cams have a broken variator. If your interested let me know, oh yeah I don't have an intake plenum either. Sounds like a bunch a junk when I write it out.. :( on the plus side it sounds like a great start for what you want to do as well.

The liners are not honed in the block in the OEM configuration, the factory uses a jig and the liners and pistons are matched by a color code. When installed the liners though it is a press do float and thus final honing in the block can result in out of round liners at temp. Steve D who does our Darton linered blocks machines the block registry and changes how the liners are installed thus allowing for final hone in the block.

Luckdynes (aka Sean) on F-chat machined his own fixture jig for honing the liners out of the block, you could check with him on the details.

The liners are nikasil coated I believe but I'd have to check the manual to be sure, the stock liners are thin, really thin, so thin that there is no honing them when damaged, they get tossed and replaced with new or good condition used hence the color code notation.

Thanks for the info!

How much do you want for the big pile of junk? I'd be glad to cover shipping to get it out of your way. ;)

What else is with it? Coolant manifold? Accessory brackets? Front cover? Water pump? Oil pump and sump?
Is the head casting broken or can the variator be repaired by replacing parts? (I @$$ume it can just be eliminated if it's too much trouble).

Also, is the variator a continuous cam phasor like more modern engines have, or does it just change the timing in one step like VTEC does on Hondas?

I was able to download a 360 WSM, but I have not found the block deck height for the 3.6 yet.

When I'm ready to build the engine, I'd need to send the block back for 89mm sleeves.

As noted, I'm in Afghanistan until October, so no big hurry.

I was able to download the WSM.
Haven't found the block deck yet, but the conrod big end width is 20.85-20.90 mm
That's 0.8209-0.8228".
The journals are 42.0-42.039 wide (pg 177)
Small Chevies are 0.940.
Honda B18C's are 21.72 (0.855) while B18A's and B18B's and B20's are 23.8 (0.935)
Although a different source for the B18C's says 0.892.
Honda K series rods are 19.86mm or 0.780" with 0.740" bearing.
Nissan VQ rods are 20.78 wide.

Will,
I drop'd you a msg from the "other" site as well.

Nick says he'd let it all go for $4k, block, heads, cams, etc.. it's missing the crank, rods and pistons but otherwise complete. I stripped it down for inspection so it's in a bazillion bags! It was a spare engine sent for rebuild out of god knows what. No broken castings or cracks in the block or heads, the variator I was referring to is the camshaft end, when the engine seized it sheared off or the previous owner tried to remove the pulley and sheared it and that is not uncommon. I stripped down the oil pump and checked it's lash etc.. it's still good thankfully. One of the cyl heads has previous damage from what looks to have been a dropped valve, don't recall the cylinder number, easy enough to weld fill and grind... why that wasn't done before is anyone's guess.

If you're really interested I can drag it all out of storage and get more info for you and pics.

I know I also have the plastic covers, coolant heat exchanger and lots of other bits. I'll even throw in a FREE pallet :D

I need the space..

Oh, sorry. I don't mean that all Ti rods are problematic, it's how Ferrari used them that seems to be an issue along with deferred maintenance history of some owners and it was esp a problem on the 360's.

I don't imagine you'll have a problem though.

What problems do Ferraris have with Ti rods?
