The wheel guy asked what I do so I sent him a link to the project and got a very nice "we definitely want our wheels on your car" note back so this is looking like a done deal....as soon as I find enough time to finish the design work that is....... |

Do they do any smaller stuff? I'm always looking for a better 15x7 wheel option than Enkei RPF1s for club racing. |

I figured out the problem with my model that wasn't letting add fillets the way I wanted, yay. Then I need the front modeled and there are 2 forgings that will do the rear, the one I grabbed and another that might be a better match to the front forging....or if I switch the fronts to 8.5 I can get an exact forging family match....need to think about how to proceed |

I got the design moved to the other forging and I like it better. It looks exactly the same outside but the bead clearance area is different and saves a bit of weight....24lbs now Attachment: This is the other forging, same design. This forging can give a bit more brake clearance, but I don't need it and it adds weight (24.5lb)and weakens the wheel a bit. Attachment:

hmmmm...the design really doesn't work on the forging that has an 8.0" rim option. I guess I'll stick with the other forging but use an 8.5" front....I have 8.5" on it now, not the end of the world I guess |

A couple weeks ago I started a final check of the wheel design and realized I pasted the rim sketch incorrectly so the rim dimensions were wrong. That mistake is now fix. I still need to get the center cap mount correct and correct bore to match the car hubs. The bigger concern I have is the wheel bolts. Right now they are recessed about 30mm vs stock wheels they look to be right at the face. I could just use long bolts I guess and get the look right, I just hate adding material to the wheel and bolt that isn't needed.....I probably just need to get over my concern or drill out the material from the back a bit. |
