I can't type the whistle sound but that is the sound I made when I saw that.

I think they would look great on the car and really want to make them or something very similar.

What modeling program are you using?

Have you looked at "carbon forged" wheels? 8-)
They are 3 piece wheels with CF barrels and lips, but aluminum centers/disks.

There are other models, but this is the most "Ferrari" looking:

Maybe you could design a custom center to look like the Ferrari wheel you're trying to duplicate, and have them match it with a set of their barrels/lips.

ETA: Although on further inspection, they don't appear to offer 18" versions.

Starting at $4750 per wheel, though :o

Yeah....even 1 of those is well out of the set budget.

Carbon Revolution just cut their retail price by 25%!

it they drop the price another 75% it will be right in my budget :)

I read the comparison article.....and while I don't doubt the CF wheels are faster at the track I had to wonder if the test wasn't maybe designed to cause issues with the alum wheels? Like camber optimized to be ok with the CF wheels and cause issue with the alum?

The author's point was that the car needs WAY more static camber than it ships with to be optimized for aluminum wheels, which then compromises straight line grip and, for a street car, tire wear.
The CF wheels could make the tires work better with the factory alignment settings than the aluminum wheels could, so the car can have improved cornering performance due to the camber stiffness, while not sacrificing straight line grip or tire wear in street use.

If ForgeLine made their Carbon Forged wheels (or Carbon Revolution made theirs) in 18" I might be seriously looking at them. $12k of wheels and $8k of Magneto-rheological dampers would make an amazing combination out of any car, but $20k worth of suspension and wheels sure should.

I guess.....but pretty much everyone who races has figured out more camber is needed at the track with sticky tires.

Not saying I don't still want CF wheels, just that the article testing felt a bit contrived.

If you're thinking any of this work will be done on your 308 you might want to get in on the new rear carrier design/build project that is just kicking off.....or sure as sh!t the fancy new wheels will end up broken off the car :o
