Mark, was that a radial runout (perpendicular to the valve stem) or an axial runout? I'm assuming you're measuring the outer edge of the face?

Wonder what would happen with guide wear????

Neither and both. I measured the seat face which is at a 45 and what needs to run true. I did chech the outer surface of the valve face looking for anything over .002, but that is not a ground surface, its the seat i focused on.

Cams are in and timed...the leak-down is basically right where it was so nothing is bent.

Time to put the cam covers and intakes on and stuff it in the car.

I don't want to test that......there are some things that are best not known. Actually I didn't make the tools I'd need to check that. :?

But I did get it pretty much buttoned up...another hour and it will be ready to install.....unless I decide to make the plugs I'd need to presurize the coolant system.

What fun is knowing all the answers ahead of time?

Plus if I found a leak there would not much I could do other than put it in anyway and see if stop-leak fixes it, other than tear down the whole engine and start over. I know the heads are good now and I also know it pumps air properly......so I should be able to start it and see what if anything is still wrong.

It's been so long I don't remember exactly what order to install everything in :?
