A few days ago Sean D emailed me that he broke a rear stub shaft at an AX. I know of at least 1 other person who broke one in the heat of battle....or at least hot laps at the track. When I first got my 308 and started talking blower I was warned about breaking axles so this is a well known issue. I think what's changed a bit in recent years is the 308 is a collector car so not many driven hard but the ones that still are now have DOT tire options that are as or more sticky then slicks were just a few years back bringing the race only axle issue to the street car world.
Time to fix it.
The plan that is shaping up is to take a C7 vette bearing assembly

Buy an adapter to the 308's 930 style CVs

This whole assembly is shorter than 308....longer axles are available
https://swayaway.com/product/axle-set-p ... 28-spline/and an wheel adapter may be, as in probably is, required.
Then somehow it needs to be assembled to the 308 carrier of a new carrier built.

let to me this will involve cutting and welding but the verdict is still out. Sean will have parts in hand tomorrow probably which will make visualizing what needs to happen easier. I'll probably order a matching set in short order.
Let the fun begin!
