So cut the welds on the new but so last week ujoint and I bought DD instead of round weld-on because for whatever reason they are 1/2 the price and having it bold together seems easier to work on so I milled the shaft to match and I think milled plenty so when I trim the shafts I don't need to go back to the mill.

Well, you've done it.

You've made me fascinated with EPS.

Excellent! I'm about to order 10, how many do you want? I can do $399 as a prelaunch special :)

I got the new double ujoint fitted. I realized the way my shafts were setup originally the ujoint wasn't sitting in the middle so I corrected that when I was trimming to fit the longer double joint and it looks pretty good I think. Also I had pushed it as high as possible but this unit is so compact I decided to drop it a touch lower as that will make adding a fiberglass housing to seal up the hole easier. Finally the double DD shafts make it possible to adjust the length a little bit and that makes the steering wheel position adjust much like original which is nice.

I'm working on the bracket now and a decent solution is shaping up....still a little long so the so the ujoint is sitting a little weird but I'll sort that tomorrow. I'm a little nervous about the clutch switch when I add the other side....but I think it will be ok.

and works really nice, at least sitting in the garage. The bind is gone so its tight and smooth lock to lock now. The assist adjusts as it should using the handheld signal generator. I'm still going to get the controller reprogrammed so its more universal but in my car it seems to be fine..again, at least in the garage.

I still need to paint everything and wire it properly but I also need a fiberglass cover to keep hot radiator air out of the footwell so that will be next.

Trying to see if I can get a useful shape with a plastic bag and spray foam.....the 1 part stuff uses moisture from the air so I'm not so sure it will cure in a plastic bag....I maybe should have got some 2 part mix type to be sure. It say mist with water to accelerate I may poke some holes and shoot in some water. And if is does cure I'm not certain I can get it out?

I waited an hour and it wasn't making much process setting.....water injection. I've hit it 3 times not, about once an hour and the stuff doubled in sizes and there were only a few soft spots left this last time so I think its going to work.

Last week I got my antique tile in the mail and I picked up my standard non-custom antique plate today. Its a multi-step process where it needed to be titled and registered as an antique before they could process the custom plate so that will likely be a couple most months. The important bit though is my car is officially "substantially equivalent to original" aka "Yeah, its mostly stock..."

The water injection did the trick....it puffed up like made and cured all the way through. I put at least 1/2 dozen 50cc syringes in and the water is mostly just gone, a tiny bit dipped out of the bag but not a full 50cc.

and because its foam and only semi-rigid I was able to wiggle it out and it looks useable

and next step is 5 minute mud....which in hide sight I should have done in like 1/2 in thick layers since the foam side is pretty water tight, but I'm sure the hot air gun will get in a few hours.

Then sort of build it up and smooth it out.

Tomorrow I'll clean it up again and probably mold one....mud has its limits and I've about found them as bits keep breaking off so time for something stronger.

A little more shape rework, a little spot putty in the worst of the pinholes and divots, satin black paint, a bead of black caulk and I think it would pass or original
