i build stuff like the frankenferrari simply because I can and I like it and I'm the only one who has to like it, it doesn't need a purpose or an economic case.....it just needs to make me smile thinking about it :)

Very cool. The world needs these things and needs people like you. Thank you for suffering through all the red tape and headaches to get this stuff done. It is important.

... although the story might have been more interesting if your day job actually WAS mad genius hospice nurse (mad genius patent clerk job was filled a long time ago).

Although my automotive exploits are kindergarten activity for you, I do it for the same reasons. It is a good escape from the day job. I am very proud that I have successfully changed my own timing belts, have diagnosed and repaired a major ignition stumble, etc. You are right: It is fun because I am accountable only to myself.

I don't know Brian.....you're saying you've worked on an engine and it ran afterwards? That puts you WAY ahead of me I think :)

Mike, I do not understand why you need special 3D printers? Is it the material that prosthetics are made out of?, otherwise why wouldn't any old 3D printer work?

A very interesting and important job you have!!!

Well.....I haven't started that job yet so I'm not exactly sure what they need specail :)

I assume it will be custom software to make it easier/faster to go from scams to teeth (this is a dental company), stuff like validations which is required in anything medical and then special materials and ways to handle them....we'll see!

Off topic.

Here's a red 308 at a Europen shop that does services on BMW, Mercedes, Audis, Volvos.

Notice how it just stands out from the grey, black and silver cars.

May as well hijack the thread while Mark waits for valves.

Here is my car parked among grey cars.
