I slid back into other things last week :(

.....but last night did clean up the 1 seat and knock in the replacement seat and put the guides back in. Since that meant hitting the head with a hammer.....I guess I'll take the time to leak test it befroe I take the time to finish machine anything. The week end looks busy sadly...but we'll see.

Would it be worth putting the heads in an oven and giving them a heat cycle and then testing for leaks before going through the huge effort of engine assembly again?

Maybe......l did heat it to 300F to install the seat and guides so its had 1 heat cycle. I think it has the hammering thinish parts that cause most of the problems in the first place...and porosity :(

I got going on tbe machining. Reamed the vujdes quickly then moved on to setting up the seat cutter. I set it up to match the existing seats pretty well then blued a valve, dropped it in an lapped...hmmm...a bit small????? Checked the existing and it too was a bit small????.....it looks like I was sloppy the first time around. I recut 1/2 of then before being called up for the evening.....another hou i guess . I'm going to recheck the exhausts too, if i was sloppy on one side thers a good bet i was sloppy on the other too :?

Good to see you back at it Mark. It is the whole hare and tortoise thing: slow and steady wins the race!

Glad to see you're back at it. Time to re-check everything? Take your time, and get it right. Looks to be a fabulous engine swap, so time isn't that big of an issue.

Certainly time to recheck anything I'm touching...which is everything about the heads. I'm not sure i want to tear down more though. I don't know.....

I finshed up the recutting the intakes seats and check tbe exhaust.....they are okish.....but like the intakes are a bit small, not as small as the intakes but on the small side. I think I'll leave the cutter and mill set up and move on to the other head then come back to the exhausts.

But first, I'll do the final cleanup on this head and re- leak check it.

Once the heads don't leak I'll re-check the spring and valve heights as well confirm valve to piston clearance before heading to re-assembly.

Looks good!

A few pages back you mentioned you would have a buddy do the final engine assembly and quality checks?
