I recut all the exhaust seats....most were pretty good. Then did the hand blending and pressure washed the heads so they are ready to go. I'll probably re-test and see is this fixed the problem while I wait on the Fucking valves.

I was looking over the car today and see lots of little jobs to finish so I'll try to at lest keep busy.....but what I really want is the engine running.

boring but.....when I was working on the wiring harness and ran a USB repeater cable into the center console I couldn't connect to the ECU with it...something about a driver not available. Today I got that working so if...I mean when the engine runs I can tune it without having to run behind the car or sitting in the trunk :)

My thought is I'll put a few things out of sight under the ashtray cover like the ECU connector. The interior is still all ripped apart and that can get finished as can everything in the front bonnet...its a mess up their at the moment and I don't have blowers for the heater because the ears were broken and they were in the way of the intercooler so they are long gone and a solution needs to be found.

But right now the timing cover needs to come off the engine.....installing it was a bugger so I can't imagine removing is going to be much fun. Oh wait..first is recheck the one cylinder for leaks to see if the seat re-cutting fixed it. Lots to do.

I lapped in cylinder 7 which was about the worst.....the tester measures 0% leak. Its not actually 0 leakage, just not enough to register as a measurable leak. Same answer vavle springs on or off so that will speed testing up a bit. I also did the intakes in cyl 8 and just dropped the exhaust in with a little grease to seal and that seemed to work to get the intakes done while I wait to see what i end up with for exhausts.

My though is test the head and know its good. Then test it on the engine before cams....the again after cams to know i didn't ding anything.

Mark,

It's been a long time since I got hooked on this project. It is the only project like this I follow. Been with you from the beginning, but not knowledgable enough to post anything. Just wanted you to know there are probably others like me that are following along silently. Glad things are moving along again. I guess it is nice to know others have ripped open the package they have been waiting for and found something other than what was expected :-) I just hope I am around long enough to see the end!

Great to hear, Mark. Considering the history, I think you're going about it the best way at this point, and testing at every step. Sure beats having to pull the engine again........

The vendor is saying overnight all the valves to him...hopefully the translates into 24 the match not just 0 valves in my possession.
