Heh, I guess I missed the :P

Smile face or not, it was a good point. I remember when I finished the seats then realized one was left over....how the ##### did this happen? They were segragated to prevent this?....but separate on the bench is not the same as a locked quarantine cage.

Back home now and hopefully I'll be able to pull the engine this week and hopefully I find it was infact a dropped exhaust seat so I have an assignable cause to the failure...it its anything else or I lost more then 1 seat its a more serious problem to figure out.

I need to figure out why there was oil in #6 too...hopfully just a weld in the intake port into the cam galley....I'll need to figure out a way to test for that.

I've seen on ebay some great little bore scopes that hook to the port on your phone for less than $20. They have them for android and apple products to turn your tablet or phone into a bore scope. They even have an LED light source and are small enough to fit through a spark plug hole. Some even have a right angle mirror attachment.

You mensioned that before which printed me to go look and buy. I think the one I bought was $60...its got a long lead I used to look for soot in the ducts after the fire.

It does have a light and easily fit into the plug hole, but it has really hard to tell what I was looking at exactly......i know I see foreign object damage and I think I see a chunk of see embedded in the piston....maybe...i could probably turn the engine to move the piston down and get a better view but I've seen enough to know it has to come apart so.....

I had one of those and gave it away. In order to use it you have to clean the outside every time. Walls where too shallow and stuff splattered everywhere. I found the large diameter plastic drain pans with the pouring spout you see in every commercial garage better and easier. I bought the trans drain pan that sits on top if I need coverage over a large area.

They had 2..s 10wy and a 16qt. The 10qt looked worthless with a pan they was clearly not deep enough....but I bought the 16wt home, a decision I hope I don't regret.....i planned to get to work over the weekend but got distracted drinking with friends :(

I'm kind of thinking I need to start peeping for the new garage more that I need to start pulling the engine....i don't know....

You should have an old fashioned barn raising. I bought pizza and beer when I built mine. It went up pretty quick but not without some entertaining moments.

I can probably give you a Nov or Dec weekend for barn raising or engine pulling.

I get back from the 'Stan early Oct, the Navy lets me go mid-Oct and I take the PE late Oct.

I was talking to my brother (a mason, but in tx :( ) about now that I live in amish country where barn raising are the norm I was thinking it a good idea to have a family gathering/garage raising.....he thout it quite amusing knowing the purpose was to house a ferrari rather than food for the winter.

I do like the idea though! I need to ponder it a bit though as the current mental plan is a gamdrel (barn)roof to give me storage upstairs with drive-in access via a big hill I have so it would be high and I don't want anyone hurt......and its more than pushing the budget if I hire it all done.
