When it comes to surplus parts do remember that one mans garbage is another mans gold.

Love the tools......especially as they have been made at a fraction of the cost of buying them from a tool shop.

Where I live tools are prohibitively expensive unless they come from China in which case they are just expensive and rubbish.

It is now looking like an engine........well done and I am wondering whether you have settled on the plug leads as yet?

It is looking like an engine....another couple weeks I should be at the point where there's only normal engine swap stuff on the list :)

I played with wires a little some time back and am thinking accel 5mm fit nicely down the center valley and look good.....not sure how they work but they look nice.

Next up was finish assembling the oil pumps. the pressure pump was done but not the return.

I needed longer studs so I made them up.

pop in new bearings and torque the drive shaft in.

add assembly lube.

permatex 518 on everything

beautiful!

......wait a minute, which way does this turn when I hook it up? oh shit! I built it backwards so it pumps oil into the sump not out

I'll need to get that sorted out before I can make any more progress.

I need to re-do the pump mounting so it will pump in the right direction :(

I don't know what I was thinking when I did this....I guess I was looking at the timing chain which turns opposite of the engine. My biggest hold up with jumping in is I remember the was a clearance issue to the wheel with but I don't recall what it was and I don't see it any pictures. i think I'm going to need to drop the engine in before I go any farther. This is going to cost me 8-12 shop hours to fix

Ok the engine's in and I have some room to play. Now I have the clues I need to sit down in my thinking chair and think, think, think (for those without little kids it's from Blue's Clues)
